Time

I have lived a thousand lifetime's,

I have heard the rain.
I have seen the planet Earth,

and many quite the same.
And I have seen the starlight shine,

across a million miles,
To fall so silently upon,

the hopes and the dreams and the smiles.

And somebody cried, "I don't want to die",

but I soon passed them by.
Nothing is immortal but

the thing that they call Time.
Nothing lasts forever but, me,
they call me Time.

      -------------------------------------------

And I have traveled many times,

to places yet unknown.
I have witnessed some events,

that only I will know.
And as each moment passes by,

the hardest thing to learn,
Is that I only move ahead,

I cannot stop to turn.

And some people cried, "Why must we die",

but I soon passed them by.
Nothing is immortal but

the thing that they call Time.
Nothing lasts forever but, me,
they call me Time.

      -------------------------------------------

And as I watch the Universe,

unfurl before my eyes.
I see a hundred races born,

I see so many die.
And even though their lives are short,

their thoughts still linger on,
Carried like a lonely tune,

from a long forgotten song.

      -------------------------------------------

Now the Universe will turn,

and fall upon itself.
I can only watch with grief,

not lend a hand to help.
But here, beside me, an entity,

who lived beyond this death.
Life is just a passing phase,

faith was his first breath.

And they all cried, "We're going to die",

but he just passed them by.
Nothing is immortal but

the faith that's his and mine.
Nothing is eternal but

the love that never dies.
No nothing lasts forever but, Love,
and Hope, and Time.
