Historically Speaking

Pantheism has been around for a long time.  In fact, many people for the last 2000 years or so have held the belief that the Universe by itself, Mother Nature, was the essence of God.  These belief systems, unfortunately, excluded the notion of a Spirit or Soul and did not accept existence beyond death.  The world seems divided between theologies involving an omnipotent deity and those that flatly refuse the existence of anything Spiritual.  Too many systems rely on what appears to be mysticism, accepting by faith the interaction of "Spirits" between this world and the next.

Ironically, one of the basic premises of The CUSP is that these feelings and beliefs about our Spirituality are too numerous, and have persisted for to long, to be anything but based somewhere in reality.  Ask yourself this question, "How old do I feel inside?"  Chances are you will answer with a number around eighteen.  Most people I speak to say that they feel like they are still eighteen INSIDE!  This is incredible since some of these individuals are fifty or sixty years old.  Now, that's not to say that they don't feel "tired" from the burden of living, of physically getting old.  Rather, that even though they may feel physically "old", that Spiritually they feel young, as they did when they attended their High School graduation.

We don't feel that this is a coincidence.  How can a Spiritual being such as ourselves, who may be able to exist indefinitely, feel old in Spirit when only a few measly years have passed.  That is why we don't feel old inside...because our Spirit has just started to live!

The Basic Necessities

Who are we? Where have we come from and where are we going? I've asked myself these questions, like most other people, since I could first form the thoughts. Generally speaking, I think that little time is spent on the answers, and most people are busy enough that it's soon forgotten. Of course, astronomers and astrophysicists are constantly searching for these answers, but the average person, the one who would benefit most from this information, doesn't seem to care all that much.  Part of the reason lies in the belief that only "God" could know and that he'll tell us when he's good and ready (or when SHE is good and ready!) Why bother contemplating these things when "God" has it all figured out. This is one of the biggest problems with organized religions as they are today, the toughest questions are rarely asked and therefore no progress is made into understanding.
